Our story
A drink born from our adventures around the world, brought home to the people we love for the moments we cherish.
Where it started
We discovered malt beverages unlike anything we’d tasted during the years we lived in the Middle East and Europe: drinks crafted with malt and intriguing fruit blends, in sweet, bright, flavorful combinations. When we moved back to the States, we couldn’t find anything like them. So we decided to make them ourselves.
That ambition became öl brew, a full-bodied Fruit Malt Soda crafted with real fruit and zero alcohol. At first taste, people get it: this is the drink they’ve been missing.
More flavor than seltzer. More depth than soda. And it’s not trying to be beer.
The name
Put simply, we love all things Swedish, and especially their way of living: the spirit of being present and connected. Swedes have perfected the art of slowing down. They make time for an afternoon drink with friends (fika) and celebrate the seasons with traditions like Midsummer.
öl is the Scandinavian word for beer, once called the oil of life because it eased connection and sparked joy. We borrowed the name and the spirit, and made something new.
Our tagline is a reminder that brewed malt drinks are born from generations of Nordic brewing tradition, gratitude for the harvest, and the simple gift of gathering. That’s where the soul comes in.
We kept one simple philosophy: keep it simple. Full-bodied malt, real fruit, nothing artificial. Put all the good in. Get all the good out.
The founders
What do a CIA officer, a mental health therapist, a shutter company owner and a former frozen yogurt franchise CEO have in common? They’re the founders of öl brew. We came from backgrounds of protecting, healing, sheltering and making life a little sweeter. We’re not famous, but together, we think we’ve made something pretty special.
For everyone
We made öl brew with zero alcohol and no caffeine or adaptogens on purpose, because it’s a drink for everyone, at any time of day and nearly any occasion. Adult, child, grandparent, sister, friend, partner, officemate: there’s a seat for you.
When you share an öl brew with the people around you, you just might discover something special about them, and yourself, too.
